• Buttermilk The lactic acid in buttermilk also makes it a natural astringent. Additionally, buttermilk provides moisturization and nourishment to skin cells. It can cleanse impurities on the skin surface or in the pores. It can also remove the dead skin cells and control bacterial growth.  Rich in lactic acid, which is a natural exfoliator and thus promotes skin cell turnover. As a result, the upper, damaged layer of skin is shed off, revealing new, healthy, even-toned skin.

• Honey makes a great exfoliant. It contains mild alpha hydroxy acids, such as gluconic acid. These acids are very safe to use on skin and can loosen bonds between the dead skin cells, making it easier to shed this dead layer. These acids also increase elasticity, balance out oily skin, stimulate collagen production, and minimize lines and wrinkles.

• Colloidal Oatmeal works like an emollient and can help a variety of skin ailments by addressing dryness, irritation, inflammation, and discomfort while creating a protective barrier and significantly improving skin's moisture.  It keeps the skin soft and prevents it from feeling itchy. It can also give relief to irritated skin as it has anti-inflammatory properties that prevent redness and inflammation.

Caring For Your Soap:

Handmade soaps naturally have a high glycerin content, which is great for your skin – but it also means the soap needs to be dry between uses. Glycerin attracts water and if left in standing water, the soap will wash away faster. To prolong the lifespan of your soap, do not allow it to sit in a dish or container that allows water to pool in the bottom.  Unused soaps need to be stored in a cool and dry place.
